At Shimbi Labs now everyone works from the location they choose. You will be invited to work wherever you're happiest and most productive. Learns how we work...

In 2015 we decided to hire fresh graduates but without interviewing them. Instead, we decided to let them work for three months on their choice of project. In these three months, they have to prove their skills and grab the job.

It was a fantastic move on our part, and though we could hire talented people from all over places. But we still think we could not reach where the best talent exists. Many could not grab the opportunity because for many of them relocating to Pune was not possible.

Early in my annual letter to Shimbi Employees, I spelt the policy to hire remote workers.

Today we are taking a step forward...
We are announcing work from anywhere policy.

Why?
Because we are enough convinced that, it is the work that matters more than the place from where it is getting done. We will be hiring people for their outstanding skills. We will hire people who believe in high standards of the work. And get them on board we don't want to restrict our talent search to the local region.

It doesn't matter where they are or in which time zone they are. We are ok to let people select if they want to work from home, cafe, co-working space or even on the beach. Work from a small town or metro city. What matters the most is a productive working condition and getting the job done is a top priority. We want to encourage innovation and creativity then counting hours on the clock.

Because work doesn't happen at work.

If you ask people where they go when they really need to get work done, very few will respond "the office." If they do say the office, they'll include a qualifier such as "super-early in the morning before anyone gets in," or "I stay late at night after everyone's left," or "I sneak in on the weekend."

What they're trying to tell you is that they can't get work done at work. The office during the day has become the last place people want to be when they really want to get work done. In fact, offices have become interruption factories. A busy office is like a food processor--it chops your day into tiny bits. Fifteen minutes here, 10 minutes there, 20 here, five there. Each segment is filled with a conference call, a meeting, another meeting, or some other institutionalised unnecessary interruption.

So How Do We Plan To Do It?
Everyone works from their choice of location. We will track all work through MyProject - our project management system. Communicate through Skype chat or call. We care about the work you produce, not just the hours you put in.

Our headquarters is in Pune, India, but everyone at Shimbi Labs is free to live and work wherever they want.

Coming On Board
When you clear initial interviews, we’ll do a project together on contract, to see how we work together. Project last for two months. On successful completion of the project, we will invite you to join us as an employee.

Meeting Up
We get the whole company together once a year for seven days. During these seven days, Shimbians can create bonds and get to work together in one place.

Besides our all-company Grand Meetup, sometimes members may travel to work together.

What Do We Look For In You?
Shimbians are curious, driven, compassionate, and tenacious. They are autonomous, friendly, independent, and collaborative. Shimbians are also communicative, supportive, self-motivated, and amazing with creativity. We want to work with people interested in making the web and the world a better place. Think you’ve got what it takes? Apply today.
