This UI Designer at ShimBi Labs certainly had an interesting childhood/teenage hood and whatever follows. He fondly remembers how he used to work part time during his 12th grade at an eye hospital...

There is a sound breeze playing through the windows, a breeze my home state of Kerala decorates with lush green coconut and banana trees. Amidst this natural luxury, I smell biriyani. Yes it's lunch time here but my Amma is not one to load me with a whole plate of biriyani when I'm busy sneezing around the house with my devil of a cold and a walk reflective of a 90 YO. No, this sudden urge for biryani comes right from your place - ShimBi Labs

Perfectly knowing I must have sounded every bit nonsensical, I assure to explain it in the coming paragraphs. My next interview was scheduled with Mr. Amit Pawar, UI Designer at ShimBi Labs. As the clock struck 10:30 am, I dialed his number and he answered after a couple of rings. Two minutes into the interview and my brows creased when Mr. Amit broke into what seemed like Greek to me. I kept silent so he could speak as much of Hindi to his heart’s content before I went ahead with the interview. Evidently, I gather Mr. Amit is very fond of the language for I had to interject and request to switch to English multiple times. I'm guessing I should add my signature with each mail or request Antim to let it be known to the general public at ShimBi Labs that the greatest extent of Hindi I have spoken is (with reference to our University necessity) “ Bhaiyya, share pe chalega?”

Apart from his constant love for the Hindi language, Mr. Amit seemed like a very amiable persona who took it upon one of his missions to mock how lengthy I tend to make my questions. Or simply put- how much I spoke! Amit sir, duly noted! He has always harboured a creative perfectionist in him and was active in art and crafts all through his school and college days.

Let's rewind to the Amit Pawar before joining ShimBi Labs in 2014. A well practised artisan, Amit sir has several collections of self made paintings, craft works, rangoli designs etc. to his credit. He recollected to me how after his 10th grade examinations he took to painting various designs on cloth. He has a mini record of completing 15 paintings in a fortnight and even sold them in the market and made earnings. While I was pleasantly amused at this creativity and determination, I chose to sound like a Puritan parent and asked him (as though I had 5 kids and years of parenting to boast of) “ Mr. Amit, were not your parents disapproving of it during your study period?” ( all type of people in this world, I tell you)

This UI Designer at ShimBi Labs certainly had an interesting childhood/teenage hood and whatever follows. He fondly remembers how he used to work part time during his 12th grade at an eye hospital and chirped eagerly the receptiveness they showed by allowing him a month leave to prepare for his 12th boards. I should have asked his grades, missed out on that ;)  He used to also do up Rangoli designs and eventually even took up orders!

His creativity does not limit here. He is also passionate about cooking and this is where I explain my first paragraph. His masterpiece cooking includes chicken biriyani and dosas and as we spoke he commented amidst slight giggles, “ my friends often tease me: Amit, this is not your arena, you should be a chef!” He explained how his mother used to ask him to step away from the kitchen, often remarking that it was not the place for a man. But once she recognized how much he was into cooking (and I'm pretty sure she had rounds of his famous chicken biryani). She let it go and has now embraced his love for cooking as a boon since both of them works, and this makes the fact of him cooking all the more easier and convenient- not to mention Yummy!

Like Rakhi ma'am, he is the youngest sibling in the family as well. This would naturally have allowed him bouts of envious pampering. I say, it should be made illegal to allow extra pampering to the younger siblings with regard to the jealousy of elder siblings such as myself!

Being the Sr. Web Designer at ShimBi Labs gives him little time to do up rough work and he shared how he has to directly apply his designs onto the websites since each website designing is to be completed in 2-3 days tops (even then he finds time to make biryani and dosa and what not. My Amma should never read this blog!).

I was naturally curious as to how he kept the creativity flowing for different websites and he answered that he would keep himself updated with all the latest trends and designs online and offline, in the field. There is one dream he has saved up for a later time- to do a short course on Animation. Let's wish him the best to grab this dream.

It sure would be nice to recollect that happiest day of your life but wouldn't it be even more exciting to know it's yet to be, and that too.. next month? This is the case with Mr. Amit Pawar. I asked him what was the best moment in his life and he told me it would be next month when his mother would retire and, in his words, “I would get her full attention” yes, that was very sweet of him, but these youngest siblings, I tell you *eye roll*.

He had a witty reply when I asked him how he balances his work and personal life- well he loves to work at ShimBi Labs, in particular with the healthy work culture it promotes it's always a happy thing to work at ShimBi Labs. And as for his personal life, he sounded like a self-proclaimed bachelor when he boasted on phone “ I'm single and I love my life the way it is. No tensions “ ahem, Mr. Amit!

Giving a rating of 9/10 to ShimBi Labs, this is one creative and happy employee at ShimBi Labs. While I wish him the best ahead in all his dreams, make sure you get an extra flavored chicken biryani next month as his mother retires!
