Read about the mission that cost less than making of a Hollywood movie Gravity.

Congratulations to all men and women in MOM mission, for achieving incredible success. The cheapest mission to Mars.

Late last month on the morning of 24 September, India's maiden mission to Mars, the Mangalyaan, has arrived in orbit after a 300-day journey covering over 670 million kilometres.

MOM – the Mars Orbiter Mission, also known as Mangalyaan – successfully entered a stable orbit around Mars. MOM is India’s first mission to the red planet; historically India became the first country in the world to have reached Mars in its first attempt

450 crore rupees (4.5 billion rupees, or about 74 million US dollars) the cheapest inter-planetary mission ever to be undertaken by the world.

Cheaper than the making of a Hollywood movie Gravity, is'nt that amazing?

What I found interesting about MOM is that, ISRO's this mission was to demonstrate the technology and to prepare for future advance missions. But it also showcased to the world that India is no longer a country of snake charmers, but a high-tech hub that has developed its technology against the odds.

When it comes to the technology, “radically cheaper” can mean “radically transformative” but it does not mean "bad or poor quality".

"Made in India" can also be awfully great!

And MOM’s successful arrival at Mars proves this point.
