Having a 9-5 job is now not what everyone aspires. Starting one's own business, company or small venture is the inner calling of many. Are you one of them? Then take a leap of faith and start your venture now. Read along to know more.

Earlier everyone used to aspire to get a 9-5 corporate job. After studying for several years our goal was to get placed by our college in a good firm with a decent package. But now people have realized the cons of working in a corporate job and are giving it up to follow their dreams and passion.

In a job, you are restricted to work particular hours, follow deadlines, work harder to get a raise, work under someone and follow strict orders. It is a rat race as colleagues compete with one another to get an appraisal. Because of all this mental health is also affected. Stress, anxiety, and depression are very common issues faced by people.

Another con of working in a 9-5 job is that you do not get adequate leave. Especially in India, there is no law protecting the right to leisure. So, you are under the control of the employee for your leaves and vacation breaks. Some companies are very accommodating that way but many are not. Long working hours, short breaks, no work-life balance, eating disorders are just some of the disadvantages of having a job.

A lot of people do a job even if they don't like it. This frustrates them as they think there is no escape from the corporate world. But I am here to show you otherwise.

"One of the huge mistakes people make is that they try to force an interest on themselves. You don't choose your passions; your passions choose you." – Jeff Bezos

If you are not happy with your job then now is the time to leave it and start your venture. If you love to bake, dance, knit, create something unique then convert it to a business. Market yourself, your ideas, products, and services, and become an entrepreneur now!

Why should one become an entrepreneur?

"Entrepreneurship is living a few years of your life like most people won't so you can spend the rest of your life like most people can't." – Warren G. Tracy's student

The life of an entrepreneur is very different from a salaried employee. You are your boss. You set the rules, limits, plans and decide everything from financing, product designing, marketing, selling, etc.

Most importantly you get to follow your passion. Working 9-5 at a job you do not like can make your life miserable but working 24/7 for a small business that you love can be rewarding and fulfilling.

No need to send a leave application to the boss as you are the boss

Taking breaks from work is necessary to maintain one's physical and mental health. Being an entrepreneur, you decide when you need a break. You can take multiple vacations and days off without the tension of getting a salary cut.

But make sure you work hard too along with taking breaks or else sustaining your venture will become difficult.

Work-life balance

As an entrepreneur, you can manage your work-life balance better. People who do not like to work from the office can start up a venture from their homes and can balance work and their family at the same time.

Your family members can also help you in your start-up. This will give you a great morale boost and support.

You choose your workplace

You can choose from where you would like to work. It can be your home, workshop, café, studio, or any location. You can start your small venture from your home and invest your earnings and buy a small spot for yourself.

No fixed salary

As an entrepreneur, you do not have a fixed salary. As you own the company you can decide how much you want to take as your salary. the more the sales the more you earn.

It is a risk factor as some start-ups might not succeed like the others but as the saying goes - "To win without risk is to triumph without glory."

You have to take a leap of faith, believe in yourself, and start your own company. You might fail once, twice, thrice, but you will get back up stronger!

You have the power to inspire other

A lot of people especially those who lost their jobs due to the pandemic have taken the courage and started their venture. Leaving a job to start something new requires a lot of courage. But in the end, it is worth it as you will be doing what you are meant to do.

Your story and courage will inspire others who are scared of being an entrepreneur. It will help reduce the taboo and misinformation about being an entrepreneur.

Nowadays the government is supporting many technologies, including marine, healthcare, financial, and other kinds of start-ups that have the scope to transform lives.

If you want to start your venture now is the time. Do not procrastinate. Despite the pandemic and lockdowns in 2021, as many as 33 Indian start-ups attained unicorn status. India has now a total of 54 unicorn status – that means start-ups valued at $1 billion or more. It ranks at the third position worldwide following the US and China.

Now, do you think that environment is not suitable for entrepreneurs and jobs are the safest and best career options?

I hope not. Today's world is filled with endless opportunities hence get up and start hustling!
