Literary Shoes And Technological Gadgets

As Literature student I took up one of my internships with ShimBi Labs which is a technology company, know this - I myself was clueless but I still wanted to give it a try and see how my efforts to reconnect with the science side would go. Here a story.

Following my 10th grade I took up Maths-Computer for my 11th and 12th grades just to go with the general flow. But two years as a science student taught me what I wanted to be  - a literature student. Thus starts the story of how I became a literature student and fell in love with all that came with it. Well almost all. So if it takes you by surprise when I say that I took up one of my internships with ShimBi Labs which is a technology company, know this - I myself was clueless but I still wanted to give it a try and see how my efforts to reconnect with the science side would go. And trust me, it's been a happy go till date.

My watchful, tentative steps were met with warmth and mirth by the founder of ShimBi Labs, Mr. Siddharth. I was given options to choose from as to what field of expertise I wanted to explore and this gave me the instant idea of how cool this whole tech business must be! To my delight Siddharth allotted article editing to me which made me all gleeful for weeks in addition to giving me an insight into the style of articles that were written by and for ShimBi Labs and an overall idea of how the entire thing worked.

The initial couple of weeks of editing articles  gave me an overall idea and a confidence to start writing blogs as well for ShimBi Labs and it was at this juncture that my telephonic conversation with Siddharth took place. Well Siddharth sir, nay he insisted on being addressed as just Siddharth, seemed to be a very welcoming and pleasant personality. The ‘issue’ of me not belonging anywhere near the tech world (save except for 4 years back in my school as a science student), was turned into a boon by him. During the conversation he confirmed to be that the idea I had grasped about ShimBi Labs being not too much on the tech side and yet right there was precise. What interested me was the line of thought he put into trying to reveal to the outer world that those who worked at ShimBi Labs had more than just the tech life in them. In short, as bizarre as it might sound for many, Siddharth wanted to show to the world the humanitarian side of the tech-based-lives of his staff and of ShimBi Labs as a whole. This seemed like a very agreeable idea to me and so did what follow.

He asked me to do up rounds of interviews on his interns and employees at ShimBi Labs and to write about them from the shoes of a literature student. Well! Just when I was all apprehensive about how or what I would write for blogs for ShimBi Labs, here comes something new and exciting. I had never done interviews for others for I had always been at the receiving end and this naturally has my doubts high. But what do I have to lose? This sure is worth a try!

So as per what Siddharth has asked me, I am to give an interview call at least to  once a week to selected interns or employees and run a round of questions through them which I, as a literature student placed in the technological world would feel and be curious about and to write up blogs later on following the conversation.

Now let me delve into my heading and how it connects with the entire scenario here and much more. To start with, I had (and still do) felt like Alice in Wonderland. The utter surprise and the astonishment that she felt when she entered a world that was in every way different from the one she was used to, the exciting efforts she put forward to gel with them and the logic she works up in a world where she could never really comprehend one for starters, leaving her to even miss that beautiful, magical world once she leaves it. Forgive me if this sounds as too much on the bragging side but I do kind of feel like Alice in Wonderland save for the fact that I do not feel so clueless thanks to the warm welcome and corporation I am met with from ShimBi Labs.

Speaking of Siddharth, I cannot but mention one highlight factor about him which must not go unmentioned. This is not my first internship through Internshala and there have been some really awful experiences. Many a times, we as interns were given workloads that preceded our leisure and most often the works were met with frowns or more workload. I do not have that here. Siddharth is as free as can be and while I'm new to the whole interview idea and still excited, he still has given me the liberty to give it a try and in the face where it might not work out, I can return to editing articles or writing other blogs for ShimBi Labs. There is no pressure factor here which I personally think is an added incentive for people to work better. So yes, I truly am happy to work for ShimBi Labs.

As for the interview calls and their blogs, well there is always a first time to everything right? I wouldn't brag I'm a social butterfly but I would definitely love to meet new people and be updated about their lives. These interview calls make things all the more interesting considering the fact that I will be connecting with people I have never and I might never actually meet in person. I am going to take my first step and let's see where their rest follows and as my heading just sums up-t. Bhis truly is a case of literary shoes and technological gadgets!
