In any business, it's essential to be aware of potential red flags when working with clients. These red flags are usually warning signs that the client may be difficult to work with, may not be able to pay, or may not align with your business values. But what about the green flags? These are the signs that a client may be an ideal partner for your business.

Green flags are the characteristics of clients that make them a pleasure to work with. They can include things like good communication skills, being organized, having a clear vision of what they want, and being responsive. These traits can make the process of working with the client smoother and more enjoyable for everyone involved.

Focusing solely on red flags can make us miss out on potentially great clients. By also looking for green flags, we can find clients that align with our business values and make the process of working together more fulfilling. So, the next time you're considering taking on a new client, take the time to look for those green flags. It may just lead to a long and prosperous partnership.

Let us look at few clients’ green flags to keep an eye out for.

1. They value your time
When a client understands you and respects you and your time, you know they are easy to work with. A client that doesn’t demand lengthy meetings or impromptu calls may be one to hold on to. The best ones don’t need to be told how valuable your time is.

2. They’re enthusiastic about the project.
It is a win-win situation if your potential client is excited about your project. When you get things going with a positive attitude, you'll feel that your time and knowledge are valued from the get-go.

3. The strong foundation – Communication
The ability to communicate well with the client is one of the most crucial components of a successful working relationship. This aids in creating a solid foundation for you. You will have a better insight and it will be simpler to determine whether you two are a good match.

4. They  are willing to pay
A price for quality is always a great virtue. A keeper client is one who is ready to pay without batting an eyelid. This demonstrates their regard for your expertise. Price negotiation is not always an ideal thing for a client. Make sure to look out if they really are your big cheese.

5. They offer clarity and the resources you need
When a client is in possession of all the tools necessary to complete the project and can clearly state its goals, Bingo! If they have Brand guidelines, Project brief & Messaging guide then that’s it. You have a full green flag client.

While it's important to be able to identify client red flags, don't overlook the green ones as well. Your freelance job can be supported by solid, consistent clients if you build the right kinds of connections.
