Hello everyone, recently we started building ShimBi Labs Pinterest Board, and I thought lets start sharing our experience with you. In next few blog post lets learn how to use Pinterest to promote your small business.

 

We all know Twitter, Facebook, Google Plus and Linkedin as most popular social media networks, but there is one more which is creating a buzz. Pinterest is the name and pin-boards is its game. The beauty of Pinterest is its ability to bring many diverse people together, not through words but visual boards. This is reason many businesses are now start using Pinterest to drive web traffic.

 

In coming days, we will post series of articles sharing our experience and show you how you can use this social media platform to increase your brands awareness while generating leads and website traffic.

 

In this first article of series let's first learn, Pinterest language, terms they use all over their platform.

 

Pinterest Terms:

  • Pins: As the name suggest you can pin (upload or link) the Images, articles or videos on your PC or found anywhere on the web, to Pinterest Boards.
     
  • Boards: Just like a pin board in your office, school or college these virtual boards, where you place your pins. You can have multiple boards for different subjects like art, food, sports, or ‘clothes I like’ etc.
     
  • Like: Same as Facebook “Like”, you choose to “Like” a pin or board which placed in Like Section of your Pinterest profile.
     
  • Re-Pin: Is share function in Pinterest, you can “Re-Pin” somebuddy's Pin, or someone can “Re-Pin” your Pin.
     
  • Pinner: A user on Pinterest.
     
  • Follow: You can follow Pinners Or Boards that interest you, and once you start following you can receive their latest pins on the Home feed.
     
  • Mention: Just like Twitter, you can mention other Pinners in your comments by using the “@” symbol and adding the username of the Pinner.

So take your first temp create your account on Pinterest.
