The next working holiday at Shimbi Labs will be on 11th June 2021.
What is a Working Holiday?
It's just another ordinary working day, but the only difference is, we will not work on regular projects. Instead, we will work on improving efficiency, building a framework for development, and creating some coding standards. Brainstorm new ideas, try to solve each other's problems, and yes, have some fun.
Here is how it started and how it evolved.
Back on 8th April 2015, we had our first working holiday and continued it until April 2019, when we decided to go remote. Then a year later Covid-19 Pandemic hit the world, and lockdown started everywhere from March 2020.
Why are we restarting again?
Well, the simple answer is, it was never supposed to stop.
First, we decided to go remote in 2019, then comes pandemic, and we just could not breathe. We just kept working on new things. Then also I twitted -
Taking time to reflect on what's most important to create ways to overcome difficult challenges is goal of #WorkingHoliday at @shimbilabs

I think it's true even today. We felt the need to stop and reflect on where are we leading? What changed? What is working and what is not? We need time to pause and ponder on it.
Since then, the world has drastically changed the way people live, work, carry on business, and socialize. The needs of people changed, so the industry is also evolving, and we are one of those companies who are constantly innovating and creating tools that help small businesses to continue their business; along with that, we are also self innovating.
Working Holidays - Fact and Fun
I think it's the right time to restart Working Holidays, pause for a day every alternate month, and give time to understand the problems and challenges we are facing and the business around us are facing.
This time though, it will be virtual for the entire 2021. We look forward to meeting in person soon! But our spirits are high, and being a remote working company, we know how it feels and how to do it the fun way!
Let me know how are you innovating yourself in these testing times?
