To enjoy work from home, you must be self-disciplined

Every day after lunch, I usually go for a long walk. It is possible because I am in Japan and the weather here is pleasant to walk in the afternoon. In most of the cities in India, the temperature is already well above 35 degrees centigrade.

During the walk, I think many things and sure many times about Shimbi Labs - future growth, development, our values, and many such things.

This afternoon I was thinking about work from home. I think one of the challenges of work from home is the many distractions around you. There are two ways to reduce them.

  1. You must talk to family members and explain to them that you do a job that brings home income. So it would help if you had an undistracted time during specific working hours.
  2. You should have a clear mind, and a firm will not submit to distractions. If you allow yourself to be casual, people around you will take you casually.

If both are failing then, you should work from a co-working place. If that is also not an option, then probably work from home is not for you.

Remember, freedom comes with responsibility.
To enjoy the advantages of work from home, you must be self-disciplined.

We have an Employee Handbook for the Shimbi Labs team, which they refer to when they have a question.
