How do you hire the best talent?
I all the time get this question from many startup founders and entrepreneurs. Let me try to answer that question in this blog post.
First, I don't think you ever hire talent. You hire people. Second, you never look for the best person, you look for the right person. The best person is, first of all, impossible to measure, and with fleeting skills change over time, new people come around, and they are better for those technologies. You can't find the best people. In fact, they don't really exist.
What you can find are the right people, the right person for the job based on what you need right now. What your team composition looks like with the skillset they have. What strengths and weaknesses are you looking for in the person? You want the right person to fit in with the team and the company culture. So you might find the best-skilled person, but they might be the wrong fit, so it's all about finding the right person for the job, not the best person for the job.
We never look for the best person, we look for the right person for the skill set we required, the attitude we are looking for, and a person should fit in company culture.
Once we have the right person, we know over the period with a conducive work environment, a person will evolve as the best fit for job and company.
To hire the right person, you should know what is good for you and what is not acceptable to you. What people can expect from the job and from your organization, and what you expect from them. You can increase the possibility of getting the right people applying for a job opening by writing a clear job description and your expectations from them while posting employment opportunities.

I hope that makes sense?
